Volunteers

Volunteers perform many critical roles in our sport including serving as coaches, officials,  administrators and committee members; with many individuals filling multiple roles.

The ACDS values our volunteers highly and recognise them as one our sport’s greatest assets.

Without Volunteers grass roots sports cannot run . Volunteering can benefit you in both mental and physical health. Volunteering helps counteract the effects of stress, anger, and anxiety. The social contact aspect of helping and working with others can have a profound effect on your overall psychological well-being.

You may not have horse skills but appreciate being out and about, you may have an historical interest or you enjoy building stuff. In the ACDS we can help train you if you wish to learn more about the sport or participate at different levels. All help is greatly appreciated!

How to get started

Look for a local club. Visit our Club section on this website to find out where your nearest clubs are. Contact details for club secretaries are available here. Most clubs have Facebook pages which list the dates and locations of their events.

Some states also have websites with calendars of events specific to that state.
